Winter Photography in the Skagit

Saturday was a glorious day and the first place I went was Fir Island to look for the Snow Geese. I had no trouble finding them and was lucky to be able to photograph the flock in front of Mount Baker. I was able to observe several thousand flying in front of the mountain. I then headed north to the Samish Flats and did not find either the reported Gyrfalcon or the Prarie Falcon but found a very cooperative Bald Eagle. I then headed back to Fir Island, to check out Rawlins Road and was treated to several short-eared owls and northern harriers doing some territorial hunting. Here are a few of the images I made.
